Predatory Loans for Puppies Must be Stopped, Say Consumer and Animal Welfare Advocates

In advance of National Love Your Pet Day on February 20, U.S. PIRG and other members of the Stop the Debt Trap coalition are teaming up with animal welfare advocates to launch a campaign to stop TAB Bank from making predatory puppy loans, many of which go to buy puppies from puppy mills.

Comment to CFPB on Big Tech Payment Platforms

In October, the CFPB sent orders to 6 major Big Tech firms -- Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Square, and PayPal -- requesting information concerning their entry into the payments space. Statement: Overdraft actions by CFPB and Capital One should be followed by more

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has released research showing that the financial sector overrelies on overdraft fees and non-sufficient funds (NSF) revenue, which reached an estimated $15.47 billion in 2019. Ironically, one of America’s 15 largest banks, Capital One, announced earlier in December that it will eliminate all overdraft and NSF fees.
